Luxor Technologies, a full-stack technology software company and cryptocurrency mining pool, has released Relay, a new product that will give a connectivity boost to Bitcoin miners with unreliable internet.

Relay is a lightweight proxy server built to improve connections between Luxor Pool’s servers and pool participants, particularly those miners with weaker internet connections. The proxy can be run on a Raspberry Pi, equivalent hardware or in the cloud.

“Luxor Relay is a critical step in building the next generation of technology-enabled mining software; it pushes the mining process forward and enables cloud-native monitoring, infrastructure and deployment.  Relay is the next installment in Luxor’s commitment to cutting-edge innovation,” Luxor CEO Nick Hansen said.

With Relay, mining operators can connect up to 65,000 machines with a single connection. It also ensures connection redundancy so that if the pool disconnects, the miners' hashrate won’t drop off. Relay also lowers miner bandwidth by compressing the data packets a miner transmits to the pool by 90%. Relay should also reduce a miner’s probability of producing “stale” shares of work, which will increase their profitability.

Additionally, Relay comes with a custom dashboard for miners to give them a clear view into network data, and it supports multiple usernames under one deployment also referred to as a multi-tenant proxy.

“Luxor Relay is the first of many on-premise software enhancements we're excited to deliver to our miners in order to further optimize their hashrate liquidation strategy. In the coming months, expect our open-core, transparent and high-fidelity Relay proxy to be updated with deeper integrations with Hashrate Index and hashprice metrics,” Luxor CTO Eddie Wang said.

Luxor believes Relay will be a boon to miners who are hashing in low-connectivity areas, as the proxy will provide them with more stable connections and lower the data load on the shares of work they submit to the pool. As miners migrate from China to other countries like the United States, Relay could go a long way to ensure rural miners stay in step with the rest of the Bitcoin network.

About Luxor

Luxor Technologies is a full-stack software firm, cryptocurrency mining pool, and data analytics provider which is on a mission to financilize hashrate.  Our Bitcoin and cryptocurrency mining pools offer novel products like Catalyst, which allows miners to mine altcoins while receiving payment in bitcoin, and Switch, our proprietary profit-switching tool to maximize rewards for miners mining Equihash coins. Our Hashrate Index also features proprietary data indices for Bitcoin mining metrics, such as a miner profitability index, an ASIC pricing index, and more.
